Loved it initially. Very well made, looks great, and played well out of the box. Then noticed some of the drawback:
The sound was quite bass heavy, with very little highs. Volume is fine. I don't think the stock strings do it justice - replacing them with Elixir Nanowebs (plus new bridgepins while at it - though I don't believe they make the difference) made a world of difference and it sounds fantastic now. Well balanced, still warm. However, this surfaced two new issues:
- An easily fixed one: somehow, putting on the new strings (of the same gauge) raised the action dramatically, and required the trussrod to be tightened quite a lot
- A harder to fix one: this made it apparent the low e slot on the nut was cut too deep, resulting in a lot of string buzz on the 1st fret. I've remedied this effectively with the baking soda + superglue method to fill in the nut slot slightly, and hope this will hold.
So it's very good as it is now - just be mindful it may require some adjustment work.
