About Ernie Ball

The Ernie Ball company was named after its founder and has its headquarters in San Luis Opisbo, California. Being a guitarist himself, Ernie Ball knew their needs very well. A major problem for him in the 1950s and 1960s was the lack of high-quality guitar and bass strings. In 1962, Ernie Ball invented the “Slinky”, a very flexible and therefore much more comfortable string, which also sounded better and was more durable. He specifically brought individual string gauges onto the market for a young clientele and touring musicians. The company’s success was unstoppable, and today Ernie Ball is the world's largest manufacturer of guitar and bass strings. Over the years, the range has expanded and now includes accessories such as cables, picks, straps, etc. Ernie Ball is also known in connection with the instrument manufacturer Music Man, which the company bought in 1984, but which continues to operate as an independent brand.

Erg fijne snaren voor downtuning

Ik heb 2 bandjes, met 2 verschillende gitaren.
Het ene bandje is standard-tuning en het andere bandje in drop-c. In de loop der jaren heb ik heel veel verschillende snaren geprobeerd om er achter te komen wat ik fijn vind spelen in een lage tuning. Belangrijk vind ik dat je net als met een 0,10 setje, zonder te veel moeite kan soleren of kan benden. Met de Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky's werd dat wel wat lastiger door de dikke staalkabels in de top...
De Slinky Top Heavy Bottom doet wel precies wat ik wil. De heavy bottom, geeft mijn akkoord werk een dikke sound en met een jazz III plectrum ook nog eens een percussieve tone. Terwijl met de Slinky Top lekker kan benden zonder enige moeite. Voor mij helemaal top dus!

Zoals altijd erg fijn

Ik heb er niet echt iets slechts op te zeggen, ernie ball klinkt gewoon altijd erg goed, speelt fijn, breekt niet snel, en zit goed/leuk verpakt. ondanks dat deze snaren vrij dik zijn, zijn ze ook goed te gebruiken voor standaard e stemming (dat is waar ik ze nu voor gebruik).

Sinds een paar jaar overgestapt op EB Skinny top, heavy bottom. Zelf speel ik alle stijlen, van funk tot metal en theater shows en ze laten me nooit in de steek. Ook ideaal voor droptuning!

De beste snarenset die er is.

Deze skinny top heavy bottom snaren zijn ideaal als je standaard of Drop-D tuning speelt. Als ik rhythms speel hak ik echt in op de snaren. Met 'gewone' .010-.046 snaren gaat dat vaak mis maar met deze snaren blijft alles zuiver.

Voor solos zijn de dunne hoge snaren dan weer perfect. Best of both worlds.
