I made a kick drum out of it.

Yeah, I bought it and mounted legs on it. Slapped on an evans emad on one side, cut a hole in one of the heads that came with it but ended up using almost no dampening. I really like it! It has built in dampening rings for both sides, as it's intended for marching. I removed the one on the resonant side but kept the batter head side.
I've rehearsed with it a couple of times by now, feels good to play. Sounds punchy and fat.
I actually got to record it recently. Sounded awesome right away.
If you're interested in a 26x14 kick drum, but on a budget, this might actually be something for you. Do however include legs and a new batter head in the budget.

my window broke
Anoniem 15.07.2016
this huge instrument has with standard thomann skins, such a deep reonating sound, that one of my windows broke (single glass)
imagine you're outdoors..... this is BASS
the harness is good quality, and easy to get on/off
the carying hooks are steel, nescesary for such a huge instrument
for marching, this is te deepest bassdrum in the thomann line, but because of the construction of the lugs, it accept also high tension tuning.... wich is an advantage when you play balkan style....
i was also surprised finding twoo mallets in the package....
i rebuilt my second Thomann BD2614 to a standard bassdrum with spurs
for playing new orleans and dixieland jazz, and i use a bomber beater on the pedal
with the evans or remo fiberskins, you realy got the 30's sound of the vintage drummers in new orleans
and no need to dampen, because Thomann allready forsight an inner dampning ring touching the skin on the ring of the bassdrum.
very good quality for a much better low price
