I Bought three of these speakers because they are multifunctional and highly versatile. I primarily use them during live performances of a 7-piece rock band. They deliver excellent, clear sound when used as stage monitors or wedges, and they also work great as FOH or even main P/A speakers for smaller events of up to approximately 100 people, supplemented with one or two subwoofers.
Compared to stage monitors in the same price range (such as dBTechnologies Flexsys, LD Systems Mon 10, etc.), these speakers sound better (FRFR), are lighter in weight, and get louder! In comparison to other similar full-range speakers, these speakers, in my opinion, sound the best—they have the best resolution, are clearer, and actually meet their specified performance. (For comparison: the DBR10 is slightly more neutral, the Opera 10 is clearly a class below, and the LD Stinger 10 is somewhat on the same level but less defined.)
As an all-around P/A speaker (for DJ use, solo artists, or small bands), these speakers are also a solid choice. The sound is neutral, and they reach sufficient volume. However, using them without a subwoofer is not recommended—the boost function provides some extra low-end, but mainly around 70-100Hz, creating a kind of loudness effect. These speakers don’t go truly low.
The plastic housing is well-finished and sturdy. If you use these speakers with subs and apply a filter from around 100/120Hz, you’ll experience minimal resonance issues. The DSP is basic (like most RCF products), but that also makes it very easy to use—what's not there can’t break.
The sound isn’t as detailed or refined as much more expensive speakers, but for this price, they are simply the best buy, especially as monitor/wedge speakers!
