The first impression was amazing. After that I discovered one flaw in the system one by one. LD Systems said that monitoring is not required with MAUI28?! This is not true. If you are standing near the system, the HF driver cannot reach you at all and you cannot hear it because its vertical angle is only 25°. This is a serious omission because the monitoring image is not realistic. Aware of this, LD Systems corrected this error on the MAUI28 G3 by tilting the horn of the HF driver. On the G2, the box was just big enough to immediately install a 12" sub, which is much more optimal, better and easier to edit. Aware of this, LD Systems corrected that mistake on the G3 model, which has a 12" sub.
2x8" has a depth that is very difficult to control in LIVE applications because it is internally regulated by a Multiband DSP processor that does its job well, but not practically. The limiter is rather aggressive and only calms down by sharply cutting the LOW frequencies. Only then you are deprived of the promised RMS power.
A better and stronger varnish of the subwoofer housing would certainly contribute to making the system look much more serious.
