I bought this guitar because I want to make a 'bootleg baja tele'. So I ordered a black pickguard (on ebay for too much money, but it is custom made for a te62, because generic tele pickguards won't fit nicely) a 4 way switch and a push pull.
Out of the box the guitar was pretty much bang on! No fret sprout, no rough frets, just a little high action and pretty much intonated.
So I lowered the saddles and encountered one minor issue: It could do with a neck shim. Although I could lower the action to my taste just fine, a shim would help to prevent the little screws on the saddles from sticking out.
The pickups are not for me. The bridge sounds too ice picky. The neck sounds decent enough, but I will replace them with Tonerider Hot Classics, my fav tele pickups ever.
Also, brass saddles are a must.
So all in all its a decent tele out of the box. The bones are great. Especially the neck. This neck feels better than my fender modern player strat neck and is on par with my fender duo sonic neck. Is it better than a fender out of the box? Of course not. But you can MAKE it better than a fender of you are willing to drop some extra cash in it.
Also, my te62 weighs 3.1kg! That's pretty awesome as I like my guitars to weighs under 3.4kg.
So just go buy one, you won't regret it!
