So I wanted a simple parametric eq stomp pedal to dial in my tones on various amps I have.
Why a parametric eq and not a graphic eq ? Because sometimes i like to sweep the frequency myself and not be tied to fixed frequencies. You can really hone in on a sweet spot or dial away the mud on an amp with a parametric eq.
Now does Artec peq deliver ? Well, it looks very good, is very well built, roadworthy. But what about the tone. There is no colouring - it is very transparant and does not tonesuck when it is switched off. Its got +12db boost which is plenty, and the range is from 20 to 20khz. That covers bass, electric guitar and acoustic guitar at the same time for example.
I used it with a LP into high gain territory and i could enhance my tone simple yet it is subtle. What it cant do is surgically remove frequencies, or be used as a feedback destroyer for acoustic guitar. The Q factor is simply too wide for it. The specs say 1/2 octave to 1/4 octave which is a Q of 4 to 7. Conversely, radically altering your amp tone is out of the question too.
