I’ve had a desire for an Antigua Bass for some time so when Squier introduced the CV 70 limited edition Antigua, I went for it. It took me two attempts to purchase due to demand and logistics issues but finally arrived some months later. The chrome covers and thumb rest had arrived way before the bass.
Out of the box, although not totally unplayable, it did require a full set up, truss rod, nut file, action and intonation (wasn’t to bad actually) . It’s a lightweight bass with a slim neck, which doesn’t give me much confidence in sturdiness..too early to say…, however I achieved a good playing action and on plugging in sounds great.
The volume/tone knobs work/feel good although miniature, pick up sounds good too.
I’ve since bought a replacement precision neck with rosewood board, dimarzio relentless pups and a full rewire kit to try overcome the toylike feeling of the bass, it’s still a work in progress and wondering can you I actually achieve satisfaction ultimately!!, or am I throwing good money after bad….. however I still love the look of the paint excellent work and I’m really enjoying the challenge of a work in progress TBC.
