This was my first synthetic reed. The great advantage is that it will play straight out of the box: absolutely reliable. At the top, it gives as good a sound quality and volume as my best cane reeds. However, below bottom F, the volume disappears and this limits the use I can make of it in concerts considerably. Maybe the medium-hard is a better option for this, or maybe mine is not a good example.
