The Rockett Archer Ikon is supposed to be one of the many pedals that aim to duplicate the boost qualities of the original Klon pedals that sell for ridiculous amounts of money second hand and are being used by world famous guitarists like John Mayer and many others. The silver Archer is supposed to be like the silver Klon and this Ikon therefore like the gold version of the famous Klon.
I do not own a Klon and have never played one so I can't tell you if it does a good job at simulating an original Klon. There are numerous videos on Youtube which compare them head to head so see for yourself.
I can say however, comparing the Archer and the Archer Ikon, that the Archer Ikon is just a tad smoother maybe even darker sounding than the silver Archer. I for one like it a lot, but if you like your sound to be real bright the silver Archer is the way to go.
For me the pedal works best to just boost my signal and therefore push my Amp into a slight creamy breakup. It also works really well to push other drive pedals and makes those sound better as well (although not all pedals like to be pushed by another boost pedal so try for yourself which works best to your ear).
All in all it's a great tone shaping pedal that also includes a great buffer which highly contributes to your sound if you use a lot of true bypass pedals on your board.
