Gotoh FB30LP 4L N Bass Tuners

Dit zijn echt hele mooie lollipop-tuners zoals je ze ook van Fender hebt. Ik heb ze op mijn Harley Benton JB-62 CC Olympic White gezet. Staat geweldig. Alleen wat een andere koper ook al had gemeld, de schoeven zijn echt bagger! Het ligt aan het stukje onder de kop, dat breekt af... Had de eerste erin gezet na een stukje voorgeboord te hebben, die ging er goed in, maar de tweede brak dus af voordat ie er helemaal in zat. Dus ik heb meteen de schroeven van de Harley Benton tuners gebruikt. Die zijn iets smaller en korter, maar hebben niet dat platte gedeelte onder de kop en schroeven er direct goed in, zonder voorboren! En de tuners staan echt heel chique, vind ik, zeker met die mooie olympic white kleur van de kop van de basgitaar.

Definitely an upgrade from Fender stock tuners. Honestly the back plate was larger than expected and they weight a bit more then my stock tuners but are worth it. Very smooth, precise tuning and I was surprised to see how long my bass stays in tune.

The only downside is the screws that came with these tuners. They were absolutely awful, chipped so much they became unusable. Didn't even manage to put one fully in and was forced to unscrew it with pliers.

I would definitely recommend these tuners as they are great upgrade and look amazing, but make sure you use different screws and you're good!

I got these tuners for a small project. I have this bass for 20 years and it was my first e-bass. A squier affinity from 2004, somehow feels quite decent quality. I have a bunch of other basses now, but the emotional value made me keep it.

I decided to upgrade it a bit and to make it into a fretless bass. I bought these tuners and I had to drill some bigger holes on the headstock as the older ones were smaller.
The drilling was okey, I'm quite inexperienced when it comes to working on a bass. I ended up using a 16mm drill bit and then filed out some more with a multitool until i got to a size that allowed me to fit the bushings.
I basically enlarged the existing holes of the headstock which brought one small problem:

the metal plate of the tuners was in my case slightly too big for the headstock. It probably wouldn't have been a problem if i would have had to make the drilling from scratch, but since I used the existing ones as guidelines i found that the metal plate of the tuner for the G string is popping out from behind the headstock. Consequentially, i cannot place the last screw for that one as it would just be hanging onto nothing.
Which brings me to the one that I consider being the worst part of these tuners:
the screws.

The screws are absolutely terrible. I have plenty of drill tips but no matter which one I used they would strip in no time. They must be very cheaply made. I had to use some other (also extremely cheap, but not as cheap) screws i've found in my toolbox.

Overall I like the tuners and they do the job.
