This was one of the first three 500 series modules that I ever bought, and if it would not have been for the other two fine modules, I would have started second guessing my decision to "go 500 series". I simply took the Fredenstein unit out of my rack after a couple of recordings with it because I felt right away that I was never going to end up with it on any recording. The noise floor was just way too high. My, more experinced, buddy suggested that I should measeure the output of the unit as it probably was faulty. I seemed like too much hazzle for such a cheap unit and hardly worth the problem of sending it back to Germany. So it just lies now dead on the bottom of my "gear sematary".
