Great material. Not slippery. The attack sound is similar to regular tortex picks, with just a little less "scraping" sound from the plastic. Now my go-to pick for guitar and mandolin. Good for both strumming and picking individual notes. Usual A+ Dunlop quality.
Below here, some observations:
Seems like the ultex material lasts longer than the tortex picks. The ultex pick I'm using has not worn down at all after quite some playing.
All picks are perfectly made; there are no excess materials or otherwise sub-optimally made picks. As expected from Dunlop.
These win when compared to Ultex Jazz III XL, a great pick of the same material. The ultex Jazz pick has a significantly softer attack than most picks, to the point where you wonder what happened to your instrument. This is not the case with these ultex Sharp picks; it actually feels like a slight upgrade from regular tortex picks to me.
Compared to tortex: well, these actually have a relatively sharp point. Regular tortex picks are not very sharp. After using these sharp picks I will never use regular tortex again. That rounded point is useless for anything except basic strumming. You can really notice that the sharper point lets you waste less time and energy in your attack - the pick goes "through" the string much more quickly and with less effort.
For even better grip you can always make some shallow cuts and grooves in the spots where you hold the pick, using a sharp knife or razor.
